In 2013 we focus on two projects while new ones are in the make!

In september the release of the Cd 'WHITE' is scheduled. This CD offers trio recordings with sax player Andy Sheppard (UK), quartet recordings with Sylvain Beuf (Fr) and Michael Vatcher(USA/NL), recordings with the Dutch chamber choir (Het Nederlands Kamerkoor) and with the 11-piece jazz chamber orchestra Big Bizar Habit! We will present WHITE in 4 intimate concerts, playing in a quartet with Paul Berner (bass) and Joost Lijbaart or Michael Vatcher (drums).

In March, we conducted the 'Ubuntu-project'. This project was part of the celebration of the Peace Treaty of Utrecht. In Ubuntu students and alumni of the Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU) improvised, composed and performed during 5 days together with Marc van Vugt, Ineke van Doorn and five professional musicians:
Robin Eubanks (USA) trombone - Michael Occhipinti (CA) guitarist/composer/conductor - Steve Bersford (UK) piano - Sylvain Beuf (FR) saxes/flute and Saskia Coolen (NL) recorder. We did several performances with the project, one in the big concert hall of Vredenburg Leidsche Rijn, the others in the old K&W building in Utrecht.

In 2011/2012 we played in a duo, trio and quartet, with different special guests like trombonist Robin Eubanks (USA), guitarist Michael Occhipinti (Can), bassplayer Dan Fortin (Can), drummer Martin Franke (G) and Sandip Bhattacharya (India).
- In March and August '12 we toured twice in Canada, ao at the Markham Jazz Festival and at The Rex (Toronto).
- Dec '12 the single and sheet music of HOLYSLOOT was released. An intimate and evocative jazz song that will be part of the new album WHITE that is scheduled for 2013.
- In April '12 Marc and Ineke played a concert and were interviewed at Marfa Public Radio in Marfa Texas (USA).
- Also in April '12 we were artists in residence at the Navaho Hubbell Trading Post in Arizona (USA), were we performed and taught workshops.
- October '11 we played in a quartet featuring Tony Overwater (bass) and Sandip Bhattacharya (tabla/percussion). For some years Ineke took vocal percussion lessons with Sandip, and we have wanting to perform together ever since!
- Fall 2011 we travelled to Malta were to play in a quartet with jazz/world music players Steven Kamperman (clarinet/sax) and Behsat Uvez (saz, ud, voice).
- In April/May '11 we visited Bali for an artist-in-residence . On our way back we played concerts in Kuala Lumpur/Malaysia.

Click here for more history Press The international press have called Ineke Vandoorn & Marc van Vugt adventurous, while their concerts have been described as exciting. In their music they manage to avoid the well-worn paths of schools and styles. Critics wrote:
- The ensemble rules while the audience wins.
- The mutual understanding between the three musicians is clear and tangible and the way they interpret standards, 'Nature Boy' for instance, is characteristic. In conclusion: an intriguing singer who uses her talent to sing both originals and standards.
- Behold the name of a group that will surely surprise most of you. Their music is free and inventive, their influences diverse, yet the spirit of jazz is omnipresent.
- This Dutchwoman, with her full and sensual voice, possesses both technical mastery and deep warmth.

Not only have they been playing together with guests like sax players Andy Sheppard (UK), Paul van Kemenade (NL), Sylvain Beuf (FR), trumpettists Kenny Wheeler (UK) Eric Vloeimans (NL), trombonist Robin Eubanks (USA), and singer David Linx (Fr). But their projects have also involved working together with a full orchestra (the Dutch 'Metropole orkest' conducted by Vince Mendoza'), a classic chamber choir (Het Nederlands Kamerkoor), a project in which they temporarily merged with the Michiel Braam trio and a project with poet Ingmar Heytze (NL).
CD's After having released three CD's under the name Vandoorn, playing their own compositions, Ineke Vandoorn & Marc van Vugt marketed a fourth. This Vandoorn CD, with trumpettist Eric Vloeimans, features inventive interpretations of jazz standards. At the 2001 North Sea Jazz Festival this CD, titled Love Is A Golden Glue, was awarded with the Edison Jazz Award (the Dutch equivalent of a Grammy). The Vandoorn CD 'Uncovered' (with saxplayer Paul van Kemenade) was nominated twice for this important Dutch jazz prize. In 2006 their CD 'Dawn' was released featuring nine original songs played by Marc and Ineke with the Dutch 'Metropole Orkest' conducted by Vince Mendoza and John Clayton. In 2013 the CD WHITE will be released; 10 intimate songs played in different line-ups with a.o. Andy Sheppard, Sylvain Beuf, Het Nederlands Kamerkoor and Big Bizar Habit.

On the invitation of the Dutch State, Ineke Vandoorn and Marc van Vugt have been living and working for two years from the former studio of Theo van Doesburg, artist and founder of De Stijl, in Meudon, Paris. This is where they wrote the music for the beautiful Vandoesburgsuite (Timeless records cdsjp 470).
